Industrimuseet CW Thorstensons Mek.verkstad, Åmål

At C W Thorstenson´s Mechanical Workshop you can see how a family lived and worked in the 1920s. The workshop is preserved as it was originally in 1918. The machines are driven by an electric motor via belt drive. In the workshop there are many hand tools and a forge. The small office and the family´s one room plus kitchen contain furniture and other articles from the period.
Salebols Sockenstuga, Ånimskog
This building was used as a mission hall for 117 years before it was renovated in the middle of the 1990s. At the north end of the building there is a unique out-building referred to as the church stalls. This is where the horses were kept while services were held in the mission hall.

An old Dalsland country manor with roots from 1805. The extravagant house is beautifully-located in Örnäsparken surrounded by nine wooden buildings.

A water mill from the 1870s with a preserved water wheel, water race and mill pond. There’s also a café opened during the summer where you can relax in the beautiful setting beside the rushing water.

Small farm from the 1840s. Petter Pettersson, who went under the name of “Dövepetter” (Deaf Peter) was the owner. One of Petter’s granddaughters lived here as late as 1957.

Unique collections that recreate everyday life from the early 1900s. Among the settings are a doctor’s surgery, cake shop and dentist’s surgery.
Åmåls Järnvägsmuseum JÅÅJ – Åmål Railroad Museum

In the engine shed at Åmål Östra there is a display of railway artifacts associated with JAG and Åmål, but also material from SJ, BJ (Bergslagernas Järnvägar) and DJ (Dalslands Järnväg). Steam train rides during the summer and also by special arrangement.

The manor building was purchase at auction at Stora Strand. The first small house that was constructed was a timbered “secret house”, better known as an outside toilet, from Vingnäs. Ånimskogs Handicraft Association now has exhibitions and a sales outlet there.

Årbols Skolmuseum is one of the largest school museums in Sweden and has an extensive collection of school related objects from the 1800s to the present. Located on Route 45 between Mellerud and Åmål.
