Nature Reserves
Tösse Skärgård
Tösse Skärgård nature reserve was founded in 1992 and is the largest Vänern archipelago in Älvsborg county. The archipelago is made up of around 30 islands as well as a large number of bare or sparsely-covered islets and skerries.
The location is a very attractive open-air recreation area and attracts many visitors. Here you’ll find sand, stones and rocky shores as well as beautiful forests with hiking paths. Visitors are requested to use only the facilities provided and to show the greatest consideration to nature. There are many breeding birds that nest within the area and are sensitive to disturbance. The reserve also has a number of ruins that are of national interest to Sweden’s cultural heritage.
Yttre Bodane

Yttre Bodane, which covers approximately 970 hectares of land and water, became a nature reserve in 1974. It is easily accessible since it has undergone restoration in recent years. An outdoor museum has been constructed at Nötötorpet and includes an exhibition on plants, birds, people and other aspects of the nature reserve. The long-distance footpaths which extend over approximately 10-12 km have boardwalks and bridges, making it a child-friendly hiking experience.

The display of flowers is probably at its best during the spring. That’s when there is a richness of cowslips, blue anemones, white anemones and viola mirabilis. There’s also a rich birdlife here.
