Türi, located in the heart of Estonia, has an area of 9,79 km² and a population of 6 900. Türi was first mentioned in 1347 under the name of Turgel. In 1917 Türi was given the rights to be a market town and in 1926 it received a town charter. This charter was renewed in 1989.
 
Türi is called ”Kevadpealinn” – The Spring Capital. One of the largest events in Türi is the Flower Fair in May. Walking through Türi you will see well kept gardens with a wide variety of plants.
 
During April and May they also have different springtime singing competitions for both children and adults. There is also a great interest among the residents for handicrafts and art.
 
Åmål and Türi became twin towns in 1993
