Drøbak, Norway
Droebak has its roots in timber trading in the 1800s when boat houses were built along the shore for loading timber and businesses were set up along the main street. Dröbak received market town rights in 1842.
Droebak and Frog merged to form the municipality of Frogn in 1962. Today, the municipality also includes Sodsti, Dyrloekkeåsen and Dal/Digerud.
The town square is the meeting place for commerce. Droebak has excellent fishing and there is an annual fishing festival in Droebaksundet. Droebak also has one of Norway’s most beautiful golf-courses.
A popular Christmas House and Santa Post Office, which receives almost 20 000 letters to Santa every year, are located on the square.
Åmål and Droebak became twin towns in 1947.
