Åmål Wins Silver

"International Awards for Livable Cities”
In November 2005, Åmål won the silver medal in the “International Awards for Livable Cities” in La Coruna, Spain. In the category, “Towns with a Population Less Than 20 000,” Åmål competed against towns from England, Ireland, Northern Ireland, Spain, the Czech Republic, Canada and Australia.
The purpose of the awards is to give recognition to dynamic environmentally sustainable cities that work to improve the quality of life for their citizens. In addition to environmental work the jury judges the finalists in enhancement of the landscape, cultural heritage, community involvement and planning for the future.
